Duplicate Tax Bill Error

I was as puzzled as anyone else when two identical property tax bills for 2020 arrived on the same day last week.

Two questions came to mind. How did this happen and did this double the city’s cost?

“Unfortunately, our print vendor experienced a technical difficulty with the print job when processing the city’s tax statements,” explained Matt Krauter, Kenosha’s City Clerk – Treasurer. 

“This error will not cost the city any additional funds,” he Krauter continued. “In fact we are in the process of working on a discount for the service issue.”

Uptown Businesses Reunite Downtown

Two ribbon cutting ceremonies happened at noon Saturday in front of the Kenosha Orpheum building downtown.Bellissima’s Boutique, 5821 6th Ave. and Kenosha Beauty Supply 5829 6th Ave. were neighboring businesses in the Uptown district before a fire to the Plous Brothers building put them out of business in early August.

So their future plans suddenly confronted them and they decided to move downtown. “We’re Uptown girls in a Downtown World,” said Krista Maurer, owner of Bellissima’s Boutique.

KINOJE Mural

Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian (right) met with mural artists Karim Jabbari and Jaime Brown to thank them upon completion of a 25 X 90 foot mural on the east side of Kenosha Creative Space Wednesday at 624 57th St.

Kinoje is the Ojibwe word for pike, the origin of our city’s name, Kenosha. The couple reside in Kenosha where Brown grew up. They have done large scale murals in Milwaukee and Jabbari’s work can also be found in Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Europe.
